This morning, NBC 47 was too low so RCP decided to use RMG's Trump approval of 54 along with it, 1st time they've put old Scooter Rasmussen's new outfit in their average.

Please hurry! Those of us who've been betting on Presidential approval for over a decade know that the RCP markets suck, and not just because they can suddenly start using polls they never used.

Please keep doing what you’re doing. We need data driven political coverage

I don’t think I have to repeat what everyone has said already. A gigantic hole has opened up in the realm of political journalism that won’t be filled for the foreseeable future, and we are all the worse for it.

Elliott, if I may offer my own assurances: I plan to follow your work faithfully wherever you take it.

This might just turn out to be a blessing. 538 lost its mojo long ago, frankly when Nate left for ESPN..but that's not really fair, because we can't compare then to now. But, my dear, you are reaally good at what you do, and these are fixin' to be incredibly exciting times, especially for writers. You'll survive, but will America?

I'm very disappointed about the status of 538. It's awful for you and everyone who worked there. A lot of the data collection, polling averages, modeling that 538 did, was very important and worth doing.

I have missed our regular chats and while we never met in person, I do think we are like acquaintances.

I wish you the best,

Elliot (spelled with two Ls and one T.)

The loss of 538 is awful. I'm hopeful that you and the other great data journalists can rebuild something from the ashes. Count me in as a supporter!

So sorry to hear this Elliot. This really sucks and I can't think of any good reason for ABC to just take the whole thing down. I'm sure you'll land on your feet though.

My guess would be that ABC took 538 down because Trump is mooded to be vindictive towards news outlets that debunk his disinformation, already accusing some of illegality. By its very nature, 538 did its damnedest to be objective. I guess it gives ABC more leeway to position itself relative to Trump's statements if there is not a part of it always seeking out reality and objectivity.
